The Zaxcom Nomad is a complete location sound recording solution for film and television productions. Specifically designed for over the shoulder use, it provides all the functionality necessary to mix, record and monitor audio in a power efficient space-saving package. Nomad seamlessly integrates with Zaxcom Digital Wireless, IFB and ERX systems to provide unique functionality in the sound bag (this is what it says on their website, and it’s all true :-).
Our friends at Trew Audio walks us through this niffty product.
It’s got 6 inputs. 10 recording tracks (also comes in 12 tracks). Full functioning time code and a whole lot of neat features that you’re going to want to check out.
One of the coolest things about this device is the Zaxcom transmitter. The device can change the frequency or even turn up the gain on the transmitter itself, all done remotely. So if you are working with Talent and can’t “get into the shot” to make an adjustment, the Zaxcom Nomad solves that problem for you.
It can send out time code. So if you are working with a DSLR you can get time code and scratch track reference by using this product all from this one device.
Priced between $3K-$5K depending on what options you get with the device.
