What was the true value of that cast? The studios think that the are protecting their downside by hiring top recognizable talent. But are they really? Great talent in a bad story is still a bad story.
Story comes first. Or, put another way, concept first.
The value equation is impossible. You can’t control it. And if you ask for the value of talent from even those “in the known”, reputable sales agents – for example – sure, you’ll get an answer. But you may get three or four different answers. So don’t rely on what you can’t control. Focus on what you can control (such as story) and then build the rest around it.
