RED Meizler module.
Honeys, what got cut out of this episode–and believe me, we had to fight to get it down to 9 mins, is the fact that this thing is a fabulous buy if you’re a serious RED user and you’re running a serious production.
Sure you might think it’s pricey but once your camera team has it they won’t be able to live without it. This is what turns an Epic or Scarlet brain into the promise of the premise–a camera for the 21st century. Wireless connectivity, multiple video taps, self-embedded editor’s files, on-set grading flexibility, meta-data galore, you name it, this thing does it.
If you need to run and gun and you’re on a budget, sure, don’t pick it up. But if you need to work around on a bigger budget then get this without a second thought. And if you’re running with a tighter camera team than I would recommend it ever MORESO. It makes life easier for the 1st and the 2nd, make no mistake. This is one of these products in hi-end electronics that gets misunderstood. You get it cause it’s worth every penny. You have to use it in order to realize what it does, so get away from the spec sheets and give it a whirl.
